Style Diary | Think Pastel Pink

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a sucker for embracing dark hues in autumn – as soon as the first leaf falls, I can be found dressed head-to-toe in varying shades of berry, brown and black – but that doesn’t mean there’s isn’t room for lighter, softer colours this season.

In fact the AW17 colour palette has seen the refreshing addition of pastel shades and I’m all for it. Styled with the usual suspects, including oxblood red and warm greys, pastels can bring a breath of fresh air to your autumn wardrobe.

Last weekend I put together this plaid pinafore dress and pink turtle neck top from Topshop to wear on an autumnal day in London. A-line in shape with a structured cut and retro ring zip, the pinafore made me feel like I was channelling Cher from Clueless, and let’s face it, she is ultimate fashion goals.

The turtle-neck top compliments the pink line in the pinafore’s grey check and adds a feminine touch – whilst providing a gentle introduction to pastels for someone like me who reaches for all-black everything on a daily basis during the winter months!

I’m a big fan of millennial, Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel, pink (which is just as well because scrolling through Instagram would be unbearable if I didn’t) and I’m loving its unexpected and versatile pastel counterpart this autumn.

Let me know what you think about swapping trusty neutrals for pastels this autumn.
