January is without a doubt a depressingly dull, grey time of year but that doesn’t mean your clothes have to be too. After the sparkles and sequins of the festive period everything seems drab in comparison but wearing bright colours is a great way to beat the January Blues.
I’m gradually learning to become braver with colour and found myself reaching for millennial pink after introducing it into my wardrobe in autumn with this outfit. I’ve also had my eye on the Teddy Bear coat trend this winter so when I spotted this pink cropped Borg coat in Topshop, it was love at first sight.
So cosy and warm, I feel like a cuddly teddy bear wearing this coat and the black chunky buttons give it a chic, retro style. I wore it yesterday on what’s supposed to be the most depressing day of the year, Blue Monday, in defiance and the combination of its colourfulness and cosiness definitely cheered me up on my drizzly commute into work!
Paired with these light blue mom jeans I dug out from the back of my wardrobe, it made for a fresh, pastel look and the coat is the perfect transitional piece going into spring.
I also recently treated myself to this silver leather backpack of dreams from Ted Baker with vouchers I was given at Christmas and I already know it’s going to be a staple accessory in my wardrobe for SS18.
I realise the Teddy Bear trend divides people but I’m always up for experimenting with interesting new textures when it comes to fashion and anything cosy is a big hit with me!
This Teddy Bear coat is ideal for adding a pop of colour to the most miserable month of the year. If like me, it puts a smile on your face and makes you happy, then that’s all that matters.
Let me know in the comments below what you’re wearing to cheer yourself up this month.
