I can’t believe it’s October already! As the nights draw in and Halloween approaches, it’s time to embrace the darkness and revel in the Gothic mood of the month when it comes to AW16 trends. Black never goes out of fashion but this season it’s resurfaced with a Gothic twist.
I’d quite happily wear all-black throughout the summer if it wasn’t highly impractical but luckily the colour comes into its own during the winter months and once again it’s been spotted on the AW16 catwalks. Romantic ruffles and floaty dresses have also featured on the catwalks and this dress from Topshop combines the two trends. Gothic with a Romantic touch it screams Halloween – in a good way!
The bold print of red roses adds a burst of colour and recalls the floral crowns worn for Day of the Dead celebrations in Mexico. It feels graceful to wear and the long sleeves, midi length and elegant cut create a chic silhouette. Vintage-inspired, the keyhole cut out details with ties add a modern feel and mean the dress can be styled casually during the day or dressed up for the evening.
Autumn is my favourite time of year for fashion and I always enjoy trying out new trends for the season. Which trends are you embracing for AW16? Let me know in the comments below.
