As a 90’s child, my go-to outfit always centered around either dungarees or leggings. However, since dungarees came back into fashion along with the 90’s inspired trend, I’ve been very wary of even attempting to pull them off as an “adult”. Not only do my legs no longer resemble sticks, like they did in the 90’s, but I was concerned that I would look (and feel) like an over-grown child.
Partly due to seeing so many bloggers/models styling them so well on Instagram and partly due to nostalgia, I decided to give them a go. They are just as comfy as I remember and, as I found out at the weekend, these dungarees from ASOS, are perfect for wearing on a lazy Sunday in the West Country.
Unlike the stone-washed blue ones I lived in throughout the 90’s, these black denim dungarees are more flattering with a loose, modern cut. They’re ideal for styling with a plain grey, white or stripey tee to achieve a low-maintence, relaxed look.
I’m still not convinced by the re-emergence of some 90’s pieces but I’m very much a dungarees convert! They’re not exactly going to cause anyone to go weak at the knees, but if you feel comfortable and confident wearing them, that’s all that matters.
