Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium

On Saturday Chloe and I finally got round to visiting Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium, and it was definitely worth the wait!

Chloe’s boyfriend bought us vouchers for afternoon tea at the cat café last Christmas and, almost a year later, we managed to find a slot when we were both free. The cat café is only small but incredibly popular, especially at weekends, so you usually have to book a few months in advance.

Situated near Brick Lane, the cat café is rather unsurprisingly cat lovers’ paradise. If you know me at all, or have been reading this blog a while, you will be aware that I’m a big fan of cats and Chloe is equally as fond of them, or anything furry for that matter!

Before entering the main section of the café, you’re briefed on the do’s and don’ts when it comes to being around the cats. The rules are all pretty obvious, for instance, you’re not allowed to pick them up or feed them human food.

Once inside the café, we were shown to our seats in the downstairs section, which is basically a big playground for cats with tables and chairs dotted about. We were only able to book a morning slot so having a cream tea at 11am was slightly strange but yummy nonetheless!

The waitress’ told us all about the cats around us including their personalities and likes/dislikes. Our favourite was a big fluffy one called Wookie! You can read all about the cats on their website before going. The cats were much livelier and inquisitive than I thought they’d be. Some were asleep in various different places but a lot of them were walking around so there was a cat everywhere you looked!

The café had a lovely and very friendly atmosphere – there’s something very relaxing about being in the company of cats. It’s definitely worth a visit, especially if there’s a lack of cats in your life!
