Stylist Magazine together with Ford Fiesta, are running a very exciting competition in search for the UK’s next top stylist.
It’s an incredible opportunity to gain access into the world of fashion with the prize including a trip to New York Fashion Week, as well as the chance to style three Stylist Magazine covers. As soon as Chloe sent me a link to it thinking it might be something I’d be interested in, I knew it was an opportunity I couldn’t let pass me by.
Since starting my blog I’ve really enjoyed putting together outfits inspired by the latest trends and styling my own shoots. To enter the competition you have to post a photo on Instagram wearing an outfit styled around the SS15 red trend and use #FiestaStylista. I especially love styling an outfit according to a brief so I embraced the competition with open arms.
One of the judges is Jessie Bush, stylist, photographer and blogger behind We The People. Following her useful advice of “be true to yourself. Don’t force something, just accentuate your natural style”, I put together an outfit and took to the sunny streets of Bath on Sunday afternoon to take some street style photos.
I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect button-down denim skirt for a while now and I found this one from Miss Selfridge. I paired the skirt with a Mondrian-esque vintage t-shirt I bought from Rokit a few years ago. The top’s angular cut balances out the triangular shape of the skirt, whilst the thick black rim of the collar and sleeves reflects the chunky heeled sandals, pulling the outfit together. I finished the outfit off with red accessories including the satchel, hair ribbon, lips and nails, making the blocks of red in the t-shirt pop. (I’ve been watching quite a lot of Gossip Girl recently, which must have been the subconscious inspiration behind the ribbon!)
The finalists will be chosen based on how many likes their photo has on Instagram so pretty please click here to like my entry. Or, if you don’t have Instagram you can vote for my entry here – just find my photo and click on the little heart in the corner. I’d be ever so grateful if you could vote for me and help kick-start my career in the fashion industry.
