I’m currently part of the marketing team for The Photography Show, which being a keen photographer myself, I’m very excited about.
The show will take place at the NEC Birmingham 19-22 March, less than 7 weeks away – eek! I’m just hoping I’ll have time to escape and see some of the inspirational speakers, especially international fashion photographer Lara Jade on the Super Stage.
This year we’re running a Blogger’s Day in the Life, an amazing competition especially for bloggers, which is even more up my street! All you have to do to enter is submit up to 4 photos that convey a day in your life as a blogger. They can cover as many of the four categories as you like, including Travel, Fashion, Food and Lifestyle. In association with Olympus, one very lucky winner will receive the OLYMPUS PEN E-PL7, a.k.a every blogger’s dream (if only I could enter myself!) Here are a few photos I would enter if I wasn’t helping to run the competition…
There will be one shortlisted winner from each category, plus the overall winner, who will each receive complimentary tickets and have their images displayed in the show gallery. Plus, we’ll promote your entries to thousands of followers on social media and could really help get your blog noticed. The impressive panel of judges consists of 6 influential industry professionals, including fashion photographer and blogger Harley Moon Kemp.
Also, there’s so much to see and do at the show for bloggers. If I didn’t have to work, I’d book a place on the half-day Beginner’s Masterclass for expert advice on the basics of photography. I’d then go to the Adobe Theatre to learn top photo editing tips and explore a few of the sessions including ‘becoming the editor of your blog’ as part of the Behind the Lens programme. The iconic photographer David Bailey will also be discussing his career on the Super Stage, which would be fascinating to hear.
These are just a few examples of the types of photos you could enter for each category but feel free to be as creative and as abstract as you like. I realise how difficult it is to find the time to take photos as a blogger, especially when the weather is so grey and miserable, but if you don’t have time to take new photos you can always enter your favourites from past posts.
You can find out more and enter the competition here, but hurry – the competition closes 12 February! Once you’ve submitted your entry, you can join the conversation on Twitter using #TickTockSnapShot. Let me know in the comments below if you have any questions. I look forward to seeing your photos and meeting the shortlisted winners at the show. Good luck!
